This is a really complicated solution there is a simpler way that works and you can keep everything the same as doing this way. You make stealth/no stealth macros (dont make stance macros as they are buggy when you vanish and add ms) . Here is one of mine I chose one with focus modifiers for dismantle since anyone who reads this might want them too. #showtooltip Dismantle
/cast [stealth, mod:shift] Shroud of Concealment
/cast [stealth] !sap;
/cast [nostealth, mod:shift, @focus] Dismantle
/cast [nostealth, mod:Ctrl, @focus] Dismantle
/cast [nostealth] Dismantle
This method seems very difficult to implement. I can see how it might work well if you’re already primed for it.
For my rogue, I use stance macros. I bind similar abilities to a single key. The idea is that when stealthed or dancing, the stealth abilities will be used, but otherwise the similar non-stealth ability is used with the same keypress… no need for alt/shift/ctrl modifiers, freeing them up for other similar macros. For some reason, I believe having the similar abilities linked in this way allows me a micro-second of extra thinking time every GCD. I have had some small issue with accidentally blowing stun DR on a 2 pt kidney by being a tad late on the cheap in the end of a subterfuge or dance. This is a skill issue, however, not a macro one.
Kidney/cheap, garrote/rupture, backstab/ambush. 3 buttons, no failing. If you’re really into minimalism on the binds, you can put all 6 of these abilities on a single macro with a shift/alt/ctrl modifier for 2 of the pairs.
I personally don’t use actionbars for anything more than watching cooldowns. I don’t bother with #showtooltip, because I don’t place the macros on my action bars, I place the abilities directly. (except for the single macro I place on the action bar to help me quickly identify if I am still able to use stealth abilities.) This way I can watch any ability cooldown no matter what stance or spot in a macro sequence I am. I feel that this is a future proof method, allowing me to fully commit to my keybinds. Always in the same place. Always.
Just my two cents. I’m hoping for some more pro videos from you in 5.2! Teach us!
